HALLOWEEN

         THE WITCH HUNT FOR TOLERANCE

Ego is a person’s deep sense of self-importance which is the root cause of intolerance. There are two types of egos: good and bad egos. Good ego is the ego that helps one to achieve goals in life without malice and hurting anyone. This is prevalent in every person. Bad ego is the ego that forces one to harm another to satisfy the lust for achieving goal. People these days fail to eschew that they are nursing a bad ego of harming people for selfish sake of their success or power.

The ability to tolerate things is continuously decreasing day by day in people. In the past, when people were illiterate, they were more tolerant. Now a days, the literates are becoming more and more intolerant. This is because of their false ego. People love to show their ego more out of their immaturity than in understanding situations to be cool.

People pretend that they know everything and don’t like to be preached. And if someone tries to advice, they strongly resist violently with a curse remark “mind your business”. People love to showcase their power in front of the weak and the feeble.

Fighting over petty things, road rages, acts of arson during demonstrations harming public and personal properties, kidnapping or killing for ransom, acid attacks on refusal or rejection by female friends, raping if ‘she’ says no, are only some burning examples of intolerance which have become commonplace in the last decade.

One should always understand the situation deeply and then act. Being intolerant may satisfy one’s ego but harms the others severely. Introspection is the need of the hour. It helps you to differentiate between ethical and unethical behaviors. Meditation also helps in reducing negative emotions and in increasing patience and tolerance levels. Allow some time to ponder upon. One must learn to say ‘NO’ to unworthy things. None will think the way you do. One must respect other’s views and thoughts. Everyone has freedom to do what he or she likes to do and can’t be forced for anything. One must learn to listen to others than to hear. There is a big difference between the two. Hearing is simply the act of perceiving sound by the ear. Here, you are in a hurry to reply to the other person without understanding the depth of what one is saying. Whereas, listening is something you consciously choose to do. Listening requires concentration so that your brain analyses and processes the meaning from words that are said. If people start listening more, it would only help to tame their tempers.

In today’s world, it is of paramount importance to be patient and tolerant. Do whatever makes one happy but without hurting and harming anyone.. emotionally or physically. Take care of every human being and innocent and dumb animals as much as one would take for oneself.

Thank you
